The 2027 governorship race in Oyo State has gained fresh momentum as popular broadcaster and governorship hopeful, Alhaji Oriyomi Hamzat, announced the successful submission of his nomination profile on the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, portal.Hamzat, who is contesting on the platform of the Accord Party, disclosed the development on Sunday via his official social media handles, describing it as a decisive step forward in his quest for the Agodi Government House.
“I am pleased to announce that my governorship candidate profile as the Accord Party (A) candidate for the 2027 Oyo State Governorship Election has been submitted successfully on the INEC Candidate Nomination Portal,” Hamzat stated.
According to him, the upload and acceptance of his profile on the INEC Candidate Nomination Portal signifies the formal completion of a critical stage in the electoral process, as the countdown to the 2027 general elections begins.
The Ibadan-based media entrepreneur and founder of Agidigbo 88.7 FM, who has built a massive grassroots following through his philanthropic activities and pro-people broadcasts, expressed gratitude to the leadership and members of the Accord Party, his supporters, volunteers and well-wishers across the state for their steadfast support.
He assured them of his unwavering commitment to delivering what he termed a “better and more prosperous Oyo State” anchored on purposeful leadership, accountability and people-centered development.
“This is just the beginning of our collective journey towards repositioning Oyo State for greatness. Together, we will build the Oyo State of our dreams,” he added.
Hamzat’s announcement comes at a time when political activities are intensifying across the state, with major parties and aspirants positioning themselves ahead of INEC’s timetable for the 2027 polls.
Political observers say his entry has injected fresh energy into the opposition camp, setting the stage for a keenly contested governorship battle in the Pacesetter State.
