Nigerian skit maker Esther Thomas, popularly known as Sunshine, has passed away after complications from a fibroid surgery. Her family announced her death on Instagram on Saturday, saying she died on Friday, January 9, 2026, due to complications from the surgery.
Sunshine had been experiencing stomach pain since December 28, 2025, and was diagnosed with a significantly grown fibroid. She was initially admitted to Orchid General Hospital, but due to an ongoing doctors’ strike, she was only given pain relief medication. Her condition worsened, and she was transferred to another hospital on January 2 for further treatment.
At the new hospital, doctors advised surgery, which was performed and initially described as successful. However, Sunshine developed complications and sadly passed away. Fellow content creator Chidera Madu shared the details of her ordeal on Facebook, highlighting the challenges she faced in getting proper medical care. .
Sunshine was not only a talented skit maker but also a model, brand influencer, and video vixen. Her passing has left a void in the Nigerian entertainment community, with many expressing shock and sadness.
