Nigerian billionaire Abdul Samad Rabiu is throwing his weight behind the Super Eagles with a massive N1 billion pledge if they win the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) title. Rabiu, the BUA Group chairman, announced the incentive package after Nigeria’s 2-0 win over Algeria, securing their spot in the semi-finals against host nation Morocco.
Here’s the breakdown of his pledge:
- Semi-final win: $500,000 (approximately N700 million)
- Goal bonus in semi-final: $50,000 (approximately N70 million) per goal
- AFCON title win: $1 million (approximately N1.4 billion)
- Goal bonus in final: $100,000 (approximately N140 million) per goal
Rabiu’s gesture is seen as a huge morale boost for the team, and he’s urging them to keep making Nigeria proud on the continental stage.
