……..Incumbent governor polls 511,067 votes to defeat APC’s Oyebamiji with 444,815 votes; wins 19 of 30 LGAs in dramatic upset
History has been made in Osun. The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, early Sunday morning, declared incumbent Governor Ademola Adeleke as winner of the 2026 Osun governorship election, this time on the platform of the Accord Party, after a tense overnight collation that kept the state on edge.
In a declaration made at the State Collation Centre in Osogbo, the INEC Chief Returning Officer and Vice Chancellor of the Federal University of Oye-Ekiti, Prof. Joshua Olalekan Ogunwole, announced that Adeleke satisfied all constitutional requirements and is duly returned elected.“That, Ademola Adeleke of Accord Party, having satisfied the requirements of the law, is hereby declared winner and is returned elected,” Prof. Ogunwole declared.
According to official results released by the Commission, Adeleke scored 511,067 votes, while his closest rival, Bola Oyebamiji of the All Progressives Congress, APC, polled 444,815 votes.
The contest was a clear two-horse race, with Adeleke showing dominance in Osun West and Central. He won 19 local governments, while Oyebamiji won 11, mostly in Osun East and parts of Osun Central.
Adeleke’s strongest performance came from his Ede country home and Osogbo, the state capital, where he polled 35,427 votes in Ede North, 26,188 in Ede South and 36,480 in Osogbo. Oyebamiji’s biggest victory was in Irewole LGA where he secured 29,972 votes.The African Democratic Congress, ADC, came a distant third across all LGAs.

11 LGAs Won by Oyebamiji (APC):
Atakumosa East, Atakumosa West, Boripe, Ife South, Ilesa East, Irepodun, Irewole, Isokan, Obokun, Ola-Oluwa and Olorunda.INEC is expected to present the Certificate of Return later this week.
