…Ebola Patient Evacuated From Nigeria Via Air Ambulance — Report

Woman said to be wife of Swiss diplomat flown out through Abuja private jet wing amid tight security

ABUJA — Nigeria’s index Ebola patient has reportedly been evacuated from the country aboard a medical air ambulance through the private jet wing of the Nnamdi Azikwe International Airport, Abuja.

According to a report, the evacuation took place early Monday morning after a convoy of ambulances accompanied by diplomatic vehicles and a vehicle belonging to an international agency arrived at the airport’s private aviation section.

The patient was described as a woman, reportedly the wife of a Swiss diplomat in Nigeria, who was transported from Abuja city centre to the airport under tight security arrangements.Sources had earlier indicated that a medical evacuation aircraft was on ground at the airport and was scheduled to depart around 6:00 a.m.

The news organisation said its crew, deployed to the General Aviation Terminal, obtained photographs and video footage showing the convoy’s arrival and the subsequent departure of the medical aircraft carrying a sick passenger, as airport officials cordoned off the area.

A source quoted by Ibile9ja News said the Federal Government was expected to make an official announcement after the aircraft had left Nigerian airspace. However, both the reported evacuation and the patient’s identity are yet to be independently confirmed.

The report comes amid heightened public health concerns following the confirmation of an Ebola case in Nigeria and ongoing containment efforts by health authorities.
