Monarch mourns ‘trusted confidant and dependable pillar’ as 57-year-old business mogul’s death creates ‘irreplaceable vacuum’ in royal family
Grief has enveloped the ancient city of Ile-Ife following the death of Prince Adetunji Ogunwusi, the immediate elder brother of the Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi, Ojaja II.The revered monarch announced the painful loss on Sunday in a statement issued by the Director of Media and Public Affairs at the Ooni’s Palace, Chief Sodiq Lawal, describing his late brother as a distinguished entrepreneur and a man of uncommon humility and service.

According to the statement, Prince Adetunji’s passing has left an irreplaceable vacuum in the Ogunwusi family, the Ojaja Royal Dynasty and the entire Ile-Ife Kingdom.Born on December 8, 1967, Prince Adetunji Ogunwusi was a prominent member of the Ojaja lineage of the Giesi Ruling House and served as the Group Chairman of Prime water view Holdings, where he built a reputation for excellence, innovation and visionary leadership.

Beyond the boardroom, the Ooni said his brother was a humanitarian who quietly touched countless lives through generosity, wise counsel and selfless service.“Today, the entire royal family mourns not only a brother and son but also a trusted confidant, a dependable pillar of our family and a man whose life reflected honour, dignity and uncommon compassion,” the Ooni said.

“His unwavering dedication to family values, his entrepreneurial spirit and his genuine love for humanity will forever remain a source of inspiration to us all,” he added.The monarch noted that the late prince consistently upheld the cherished values of the Ojaja Royal Family, living a life of humility despite his business accomplishments and remaining committed to societal progress.

While commiserating with the entire Ogunwusi family and the sons and daughters of Ile-Ife, Oba Ogunwusi urged all to find comfort in the impactful and fulfilled life his brother lived.

“Though his earthly journey has come to an end, his footprints on the sands of time can never be erased. The Ogunwusis are comforted by the fact that Prince Adetunji lived a fulfilled life dedicated to God, family, enterprise and humanity,” he said.

The Ooni prayed to the Almighty Olodumare to grant the soul of the departed eternal rest and give his immediate family, friends, business associates and all those he left behind the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss.
