Nollywood actor and filmmaker Stanley Amandi has been arrested for his alleged involvement in a foiled coup plot against President Bola Tinubu’s administration. Amandi, a former chairman of the Enugu State chapter of the Actors Guild of Nigeria, was reportedly recruited to function as a propagandist for the plotters.

The coup plot allegedly involved assassinating top government officials, including Tinubu, Vice President Kashim Shettima, and other prominent figures. 16 military officers were initially under investigation, with additional arrests made later.

Amandi’s works include directing “The Album” and “Tiger King”, and acting in “Once Upon a Dream”. His last Instagram post was on September 19, 2025, shortly before his arrest.

The Defence Headquarters has confirmed the plot and says those involved will face trial.
