…FCT Minister says Tinubu taking bold decisions past governments avoided, speaks at APC campaign council inauguration

The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has challenged opposition politicians to acknowledge the achievements of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration, saying political differences should not blind anyone to good governance. Wike spoke on Wednesday, October 14, during the inauguration of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Presidential Campaign Council in Abuja, attended by party leaders, governors and political stakeholders.

The former Rivers State Governor, who described himself as a leader of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), said his support for President Tinubu was driven by conviction and that party affiliation should not stop politicians from admitting when government takes beneficial decisions. He faulted opposition claims that the administration lacks direction, arguing that Tinubu has shown the political will to confront difficult national problems that previous governments recognized but failed to address.

On security, Wike expressed confidence in the administration’s capacity to tackle insecurity, pointing to the proposed establishment of state police as a key reform that could improve security management across the country. He also charged members of the Presidential Campaign Council to prove their political value through measurable results in their respective areas, rather than relying solely on their appointments.

The remarks were highlighted by the Media and Publicity Team of the Forum of Chief Executives of Federal Parastatals (FORCEPA) as one of the major moments of the inauguration. The event brought together political figures across party lines, including Anambra State Governor Charles Chukwuma Soludo and Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke.

According to FORCEPA, the inauguration provided an opportunity to document stakeholder positions on governance, accountability, security reform and the balance between political competition and national development, stressing that public debate on government performance should be guided by verifiable policies and measurable outcomes.
