Boko Haram has issued a 72-hour ultimatum and is demanding ₦5 billion to release 416 women and children abducted last month from Ngoshe in Gwoza LGA, Borno State. The demand came in a video that’s now circulating online.
In it, the group warned security forces not to attempt a rescue operation.

A leader who identified himself as Mallam Abu said: “We are sending a message to the Borno South Youth Alliance, the Nigerian government – not our government. This is the first and last message. We are giving you 72 hours. Don’t add one more minute. If you don’t meet our demands, we will share the women and children. You will never see them again. If you try to use military force, you are welcome. We depend on the power of Almighty Allah.

”The Borno South Youth Alliance has since appealed for urgent help. They called on President Bola Tinubu, Governor Babagana Zulum, and prominent Nigerians including Aliko Dangote, Abdul Samad Rabiu, and other Northern philanthropists to intervene.“We respectfully call on all capable stakeholders to urgently use every lawful means to help secure the freedom of these 416 women and children,” the group said.

According to BOSYA, the ultimatum was issued on April 19, 2026, during mediation efforts led by its president, Samaila Ibrahim Kaigama. The group said a “final warning” video was sent after the terrorists communicated their demands, including the ₦5 billion ransom. The 416 victims were abducted from Ngoshe last month.
