The Olubadan of Ibadan land, Oba Rashidi Adewolu Ladoja, has launched the Ibadan Economic Investment and Business Development Desk, alongside the Ibadan Community Guards Security Coordination Desk, in a bid to boost economic growth and strengthen security in Ibadan land. The event, held at the Aafin Olubadan, Oke Aremo, Ibadan, also saw the unveiling of “Gaari Ibadan”, a local initiative aimed at enhancing food security and promoting economic empowerment.
The Olubadan’s efforts have been praised by prominent sons and daughters of Ibadan, who attended the event. Olori Onikepo Akande, Chairperson of the Olubadan Economic and Investment Committee, commended the monarch’s vision in setting up the committee to revive struggling industries in the city. The committee has already begun repositioning several companies, marking a new phase of economic revitalization for Ibadan.
The Ibadan Community Guards are expected to complement existing security agencies, and the Olubadan has assured residents of his commitment to supporting the initiative. The “Gaari Ibadan” project is also expected to create jobs, boost local markets, and preserve the city’s cultural heritage.
Notable figures, including C.P Fatai Owoseni, Special Adviser on Security Matters and Chairman of the Oyo State Security Trust Fund, and Barrister Sharafadeen Alli, an APC governorship aspirant, have praised the Olubadan’s initiatives, promising to support the efforts to improve security and economic growth in Ibadan land.
