The President, who departed Abuja on August 30, spent one week in London before proceeding to Paris for the second leg of his vacation.
Sources close to the Presidency said Tinubu chose to fly into Lagos first to honour the memory of the late Chief MKO Abiola, acclaimed winner of the June 12, 1993 presidential election and martyr of Nigeria’s democratic struggle.
As part of the Independence Day activities, the President will on Wednesday attend the premiere of a movie dedicated to Abiola at the Wole Soyinka National Theatre, Iganmu, Lagos.
While in Lagos, President Tinubu is also expected to hold a series of strategic closed-door meetings with political leaders and associates as early preparations for the 2027 general elections gather momentum.
During his stay in Paris, the President attended a private dinner with French President Emmanuel Macron and met with top business leaders, including Mr. Vincent Bolloré of the Bolloré Group, owners of Canal+, MultiChoice and Universal Music Group.
He also met with the Chairman of First Holdings, Mr. Femi Otedola, on Monday.Last week, President Tinubu witnessed the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding between the Ogun State Government and DP World for the development of a Gateway deep seaport in Ogun Waterside and the creation of a Blue Marine Economic Zone, with the logistics giant pledging a $7 billion investment.
