A devastating midnight fire gapped through a residential building in leaving a trail of destruction. The blaze, which occurred at 12:23 am on Sunday, ravaged a twin three-bedroom private residence at N Airport Area.
Thankfully, no one was hurt in the incident. The Oyo State Fire Service, with support from the Federal Fire Service, swiftly responded to the emergency, preventing the fire from spreading to nearby buildings.
According to Maroof Akinwande, Chairman of the Oyo State Fire Service, the fire was caused by electrical appliances left plugged in while not in use. “Our officers quickly swung into action and restricted the fire from spreading,” he said.
The joint effort by the state and federal fire services ensured the fire was brought under control, saving lives and property. The incident serves as a stark reminder of fire safety precautions, especially with electrical appliances.
