Residents of Oyo, Kwara, Ogun, and Osun are facing another round of power outages, with the Ibadan Electricity Distribution Company (IBEDC) citing a reduction in power allocation from the national grid as the culprit.
In a statement issued on Monday, December 16, 2025, IBEDC acknowledged the prolonged outages affecting customers across these states and Ibadan metropolis, apologizing for the inconvenience caused.
What’s Behind the Outages?
IBEDC explains that a significant drop in electricity allocation from the national grid has limited the power available for distribution, leading to intermittent supply and extended outage periods.
IBEDC’s Response:
- Engaging with the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) and Nigeria Independent System Operator (NISO) to improve supply stability
- Strategically distributing available electricity to ensure fairness and operational efficiency
- Keeping the public informed about the situation
“We appreciate your patience and understanding as we work to resolve this issue,” IBEDC said.
The statement was signed by IBEDC Management.
