The Dangote Group has set the petrol price at ₦739 per litre effective Tuesday, starting with select MRS Oil & Gas stations. This follows a ₦699/litre gantry price cut (down from ₦828).
President Aliko Dangote stated the company will clamp down on filling stations overcharging despite the reduction, urging bulk buyers (up to 10 trucks allowed) to purchase directly. “No station should sell above ₦740/litre in Dec/Jan. We’ll enforce it,” he warned.
The phased rollout includes Lagos initially, expanding nationwide via Dangote Petroleum Refinery partners. The move aims to boost affordability amid holiday travel.
